'Champion Chilton Joins
Featherweight Tournament

Extreme Challenge's 145-pound champion – Kamaal Chilton – agreed Tuesday to enter the Super Fight Series tournament.
Chilton – of Burlington's American Pit Fighters gym – is a natural 135-pounder and was in the process of dedicating himself to that weight class. But, Chilton said the opportunity of entering the tourney was too big to pass up.
Also added to the tournament are Mitch Parker and Andy Mundt. Parker is a well-rounded mixed martial artist with an impressive 13-5 record. Mundt, a kickboxer and jiu jitsu fighter, is undefeated at 5-0.
The first round fights for the 8-man tournament will begin in April and May.
Here is an updated list of the amateur featherweights entering the tournament:

1. Chuck Pieritz (11-0)
2. Royce Arnold (9-1)
3. Ryan Tobar (6-2)
4. Mitch Parker (13-3)
5. Isaac Enriquez (6-1)
6. Kamaal Chilton (5-0)
7. Andy Mundt (5-0)

Invitations for the final spot have been offered to two other fighters – Dennis Deaver (7-2) and Randy Ford (9-2). Jake Almeter (11-4) will face Mike Werning (4-1) in the alternate bout. The winner of the alternate bout would fill in for any fighter injured during the tournament schedule.
Once the final spot is filled match-ups will be announced.
Similar to the heavyweight Series, the featherweight tournament
will have fights taking place at several locations.
Currently, the heavyweights are working their way through their own 8-man tournament. Last night in Bettendorf Brandon Knapp defeated previously unbeaten Rashaad South to advance. One fight remains in the opening round – taking place Feb. 18 in Quincy. Advancing to the second round are Knapp, Parnell Davis and Dave Swafford.
The winner
of the Super Fight Series tournaments will be offered a pro contract with ProElite. ProElite events can be seen live on HDNet.
